Aoraki (also known as Mt Cook) is the highest mountain in New Zealand. In Maori legend Aoraki was the son of Rakinui, the Sky Father, who along with his brothers were turned to stone by the south wind while canoeing around Papatuanuku, Earth Mother. The canoe became the South Island, the prow the Marlborough Sounds and his brothers the Southern Alps.

Hand made and designed by the Lost Kiwi in Brisbane, Australia.

Surgical steel brooch pin backing with hook clasp. The brooch is made from acrylic with a wood backing.
